Top 3 Reasons to Go to Game Dodgers

Top 3 Reasons to Go to Game Dodgers

If there is one thing that can be done by Los Angeles natives and city transplants, it is that LA Dodgers is one of the most exciting teams in a baseball game.

There’s something about a team that just screams “Los Angeles”, and printing a pair of Dodgers tickets should be considered a rite of passage. If you’re going to be in LA anytime soon, you need to take the time to look at at least one game.

How many other teams can claim that they have won 6 World Series and 21 National League Pennants? How many MLB leagues can say that they have produced 17 Rookies of the Year?

Dodgers is a legend, and you will race to get Dodgers tickets once you learn 3 main reasons why you should see them play.

Dodgers are a team with history
If you’re a sports history buff, you’ll love Dodgers. They have one of the most interesting history of all the teams in MLB.

They were the Los Angeles Dodgers since 1958, but they started as Brooklyn Atlantics in 1883.

When they were in Brooklyn, they hired the first African-American MLB player Jackie Robinson in 1947. Great big players like Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale both called the Dodgers home.

Dodgers also has one of the oldest competitions in baseball history.

When they were in Brooklyn, the Dodgers started a rivalry with the San Francisco Giants (when they were also in New York). Their hatred began in the 19th century and is still going strong today.

Some of the best celebrities have Dodgers tickets
When your team is based in Los Angeles you will definitely have some celebrity followers.

Some people like to say that the New York team has the largest star-studded fan base, but LA Dodgers can easily give NYC a run for its money.

Dodgers are not short of celebrity fans, and as time passes more and more stars have shown people that they are blue-blooded

Bryan Cranston has been a Dodgers fan of a lifetime and claims that Vin Scully and Sandy Koufax are his childhood idols. Danny Devito loves Dodgers, and even befriends Nick Punto.

The Dodgers Stadium is awesome
Do you know what almost every baseball fan wants to see at least once in their lifetime? The Dodgers Stadium is one of the oldest stadiums in the United States, and the grass and benches have seen many games and amazing people.

The Dodgers Stadium is so important and massive that in 2009 it became the first sports venue to be given its own postal code.

One of the biggest events at the stadium was not attended by people with Dodgers tickets. The Dodgers Stadium was so large that it was chosen as a place of worship to visit when Pope John Paul II came to the city in 1987.

Bonus: The food is amazing
You can get rid of the pile of nuts and crackers as you see the game at Dodgers Stadium. Dog Dodgers bake bad, and very good so some people are more than happy to get Dodgers tickets so they can eat it.

Want to try Dog Dodgers? You can find it behind the home plate at every level of the stadium.

Finding a car to connect a son with his father, a fallen soldier

Finding a car to connect a son with his father, a fallen soldier

MOORE, Texas – Even in the United States, Justin Rozier has been thinking lately about a car. Specifically, he told his mom, Jessica, he would love to have a car – any car – that his dad once owned.

“I mean, it could have been a 1974 Dodge Astro – I do not even know if it’s a car – but it’s got to have anything and he would have said, ‘Yes,'” Jessica said.

Why? “I know that he wishes his dad was here,” Jessica answered.

In 2003, Justin’s dad, Army 1st Lt. Jonathan Rozier, died in Iraq. Justin was nine months old. Today, he cherishes anything that used to belong to his dad – which is why he thought it would be so cool to have his car.

“I do not know, just knowing that he has it – it’s a whole lot different than just any other thing,” Justin said.

Unfortunately, after Jon died, Jessica had to sell the car – a ’99 Toyota Celica convertible. Finding it again would be nearly impossible, but Jessica said she had to at least try.

“I feel like this is something connecting him,” Jessica said.

But this is a needle in a haystack.

“Well, I’ve seen magical things happen on Facebook,” Jessica said.

So she turned to Facebook – posted the old VIN with a note asking for help. And somehow that message made it all the way to Pleasant Grove, Utah – where the local residents not only found the car, but decided to go a step further.

“We decided, let’s see if we can buy the car,” said Kyle Fox. “So I’m always trying to do something like that to serve.”

Now, I’m not saying Kyle is a saint, but a butterfly did land on him in the middle of our interview – and stayed there for half an hour.

Kyle Fox runs a non-profit called “Follow the Flag.” CBS NEWS
“Now I do not even know where I was,” Kyle said, distracted.

Anyway, Kyle, who runs a nonprofit called Following Flag, got donations to purchase the car, and then assembled a team volunteer mechanics to fix it like new – all unbeknownst to Justin until last month, when Kyle drove the car from Utah to surprise Justin for his 15th birthday.

I can not tell you what this meant to Justin. I mean, I really can not. He tried to explain it to me, but when he opened his mouth no words fell out.

“It’s a link to the past for him.” It’s a big thing for me too, so I just need to say that, “Justin said.

Obviously, this was never about a car. No, this is about trying to remember what you can know about the country so grateful and kind you can not imagine.

Welcome to Fall

Welcome to Fall

I have just spent a week in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The foliage was just starting to turn into a wonderful koliascope of colors. Unseasonably warm then while there, we are now getting back to the usual temperatures of October. The gardens are wilting down, the skins on the tomatoes are thicker, canning and freezing are in full operation. Corn stalks are turning brown in the fields, and as the leaves die back, acres of bright orange pumpkins are evident against the backdrop of browning leaves. Sumacs along the edge of the swamps are bright red and are probably the earliest of the changing season.
The tree leaves, although still changing color here, are starting to drop. They go in stages. Most noticeable are the maples as they seem to go overnight. The oaks, that are most abundant in this area, go more slowly. Many do not lose all of their leaves over the fall but wait for spring and new growth. All I really know is that by Thanksgiving I will be knee deep in leaves and thanking God for leaf blowers.

Right now the houses on the street are slowly starting to sport scarecrows, orange lights, pumpkins, and corn stalks. Soon the neighborhood children will be buying and making costumes for trick-or-treating. I’m stocking up on candy bars as there will be about one hundred little ones knocking at my door. Some not so little ones, too. I chuckle at the less than one-year-olds that come in their parents’ arms, knowing full well that these babe-in-arms will get none of the bounties.

It is a wonderful time of year. With a chill in the air, it is a great time for walking and hiking. Despite a year with a heavy infestation of gypsy moths, the oak trees have put out an abundance of acorns. That means that with this bounty the squirrels will have been just as busy reproducing large litters. That may mean a problem for next year. If the season does not provide for the newcomers, then the population of squirrels will dwindle again. They come and go from year to year.

It’s the time of year that I start looking towards my own Halloween decorating. I don’t do a lot, but do enjoy carving pumpkins. Choosing from a collection of patterns that were collected over the years, I pick them based on available time and the effort required to do the work. There is a ghost that hangs from a tree to welcome the kids with a cackle. Using white paper bags and black silhouettes, luminaria lines the walk up to the front door. The advent of flickering battery operated lights take away the danger of flames in the pumpkins and luminaria. Other smaller lights and decorations are brought out of storage. The costume for the dog involves a bandana and motorcycle hat. My own costume comes from a collection in that same storage area and varies from year to year. With a motorcycle dog, then a motorcycle Mama may end up being the choice.

Not a big fan of roasted pumpkin seeds, when the guts are pulled from the pumpkins, I put the collection in a large shallow roasting pan. This pan is placed on a storage box on the deck just outside of the living room window. From my recliner, I am privy to a private show of the squirrels coming up to feed on them. It keeps them out of the bird feeders. The biggest male always stakes his claim on the pan of seeds, chasing away all others. Somehow that just doesn’t seem fair.

Ready for the Road: The World’s Most Epic Motorcycling Routes

Is there anything quite like seeing the world glide by from behind your motorcycle helmet visor? Nothing but you, your buddies and the open road. The unbelievable rush of roaring along Route 66 at a tidy 75 mph beats a lazy beach holiday any day of the week.
For the ultimate rush of a roadtrip with just your bike, backpack and the road, give one of these epic adventure routes a go.

Route 66, USA

The mother of all road trips, this 3,939km route starts in Chicago and cuts through the country all the way to LA. Depending on how much time you have and what interests you the most, you could either drive a section of it or go the whole hog (on your hog!) and see the whole thing. It winds through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri, and doing the whole shebang would take 3 to 4 weeks according to seasoned bikers who’ve lived the legend.

With our USA travel insurance, you’ll be covered for as much of the journey as you take. Spend some more time getting to know (and win big in!) Vegas, experiencing Death Valley and admiring the Grand Canyon.

The South Island, New Zealand

This stretch of land is just breath-taking. Expect to see awe-inspiring landscapes, forests, fjords, mountains and beaches along the way. The other-worldliness of the backdrop to much of the Lord of the Rings movies will be amazing to drive along to. Other bonuses of this route include the lightness of the traffic, the smooth tarmac road surfaces, and the incredible scenery really must be mentioned again.

Stop and enjoy the Franz Josef Glacier, revisit civilisation in the city of Nelson, relax on the shores of Lake Mapourika and visit the Aspiring National Park. These are just a few attractions on the 2,100km stretch of road.

The Transalpine Route, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy

If staying closer to home with the added bonus of bringing you bike without a huge amount of effort, this is the route for you. Starting in Grenoble in France and winding 2,400km all the way through the Alps to end in Venice, Italy, you’ve got a couple of options when it comes to traversing the Alps with more easy routes right up to a couple of more challenging ones. Expect spectacular mountain landscapes, steep gradients and a hell of a lot of tunnels, bridges and viaducts. Don’t forget to bring a load of loose change for the tolls, and don’t miss out on the climb to the Stelvio pass!

Ruta 40, Argentina

At 5,301km this is one of the world’s longest roads. It starts in Cabo Virgenes in Santa Cruz and snakes its way up to Quiaca in Jujuy, with gorgeous views the whole way along the route which runs beside the Andes. This route cuts through or drives by a whopping 20 National Parks! With incredible scenery on offer as well as the chance to ride from the South to the North of this huge country, this route is rightly popular.

Whether you opt for New Zealand, the Alps, Argentina or the USA, travel insurance by Let’s Go Insure gives you the cover you need to make the most of your roadtrip without stress.

Drive carefully and to drive safely, keep to the speed limit. Always have the necessary documentation and safety gear at hand.

Guide to Cleaning Your Air Rifle Scope correctly

Guide to Cleaning Your Air Rifle Scope correctly

Buying air rifle scopes may be the best decision you make when you arrive at your training goal. But keeping clean clean is the second best decision you’ll make.

If the scope is dirty, you may find it difficult to see at dusk or dusk. You may also have trouble seeing in the middle of the day if the lens has dust or dirt on it.

It’s important to keep the scope clean all the time so you can easily see your target. This ensures accurate fire.

Plus, clean up the scope, the longer it will last.

Let’s discuss three steps to clean your air rifle’s scope in good condition: brushing, wiping and cleaning deeply.

Round One: Brushing
Use a soft bristle brush to remove any dirt or particles attached to the surface. You can use a brush designed for the camera.

The brush should be soft and completely free of oil. Oil can damage the surface of the scope and make it harder to keep it clean.

Look for brushes that can be pulled into the case when not in use. A good brush that has a nice hat is also the right choice as it makes a clean brush between utilities.

If the brush is wet, you should throw it away and get a replacement.

Another option is to use a can of pressurized air to clean the lens when the lens is dry.

Round Two: Wipe
Next, use a microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints or smudges. The fabric should be soft and should not be made with or in contact with any chemicals. This can damage the lens surface.

The microfiber fabric has a small fiber that is much smaller than a strand of human hair.

The normal fabric has fibers that form a circle and will only smear the oil over the lens. The triangular strap gives a clean lens inside, so look for a cloth like this.

This type of fabric can prevent scratches from small particles scratched on the surface of the lens. The microfiber cloth takes particles so it does not scratch your lens.

Round Three: Deep Cleaning
For water-dried stains on the lens or pollen, use an antifungal cleanser. Place a few drops of cleanser on a tissue and rub the lens, from the inside out.

Then use clean and dry tissue to remove excess fluid.

Repeat as needed.

Just remember, be gentle and do not push too hard. Save your energy while you’re practicing.

You definitely want to make sure the cleanser is not a quick dry mix so it does not dry out when you try to clear the scope. Do not use a glass cleaner as it contains chemicals that can damage the lens.

Check the lens briefly before you finish cleaning it just to make sure the lens is not clean.

If there is still dirt, stains or particles, try again until full. It may take a little longer than you expected, but the results in the accuracy of the shot will make it worth your while.

More Tips
Never use a duster, wet paper towel or your shirt to cleanse your scope. And do not also clean it with a new toothbrush. Or the usual, in this case.

Although it seems harmless, using the wrong ingredients and products to clean the scope you can do a bad job to clean it, at best.

At worst, it can leave scratches that affect the quality of your shot. It’s like rubbing dirty sandpaper over the lens. You may have to change your scope, depending on the extent of the damage.

You should also avoid using your finger to clean up the debris. It can cause dirt to stick on the surface, and can also scratch the lens.

Keeping Your Cleaning Cleansing Kit Safe

If you do not clean your scope, be sure to keep your cleaning supplies in a clean and safe place. You do not want your cloth to collect dust that will end in its scope.

If the microfiber cloth is dirty, check if you can throw it in the washing machine and dry it. Do not use bleach or fabric softener.

Clean your air gun

It is equally important to clean your rifle as it clears your scope.

Many people think you do not need to clean the air gun, but cleaning it is the best way to keep it in top shape. It also helps the guns last longer.

If your rifle is dirty and you try to clear your scope, your scope will definitely cause dirt and dirt on it in the process.

It’s like what happens when the toast wets the floor. It is always ground facing down.

But think about it

Take a Leap Into the Unknown: 4 Exciting Bungee Jump Techniques!

Take a Leap Into the Unknown: 4 Exciting Bungee Jump Techniques!

For many, a bungee jump is a once-in-a-lifetime, adrenaline-filled activity that you’ll remember forever – and you’ll forever be able to tell people about your jump! There are many ways to skin a cat, and some of these bungee jump techniques will make your jump even more memorable. Whether you’re a seasoned jumper or will only take the plunge once in your life, there is a thrilling technique out there for you.
Feel Like You Can Fly Techniques!

The Swallow Dive is one of the most popular jump styles in use today, and for good reason! Especially beloved by adrenaline seekers, you have to take a big running jump off the platform with your arms stretched out as wide as possible (like a swallow). This will let you soar through the sky to the ground below. There will be a huge adrenaline rush as you feel like you’re flying through the air… and as an added bonus, as the cord begins stretching you will be pointing downwards – perfect for a smooth and easy deceleration.

Be aware: if the body harness you’re kitted out with has a front cord attachment, ensure you twist 180 degrees so by the time the cord tightens out you’re facing upwards. Don’t worry, your instructor will know all this! But the more you know before your jump, the more relaxed you’ll be before the big event.

The Bat Drop is a little trickier than the swallow dive, and much more daring! For this jump style you’ll have to be positioned hanging upside down (!!!) on the edge of the platform. Someone else will need to be holding your feet, and once they release you you’ll shoot off like a bat or vampire into the darkness of the night!

The Back Dive is another jump which is considered to be a little more difficult. You’ll really need to put your all into launching off the platform so that when you’re at the end of your fall, your head will be pointing straight down. Just like the swallow dive, be sure to be facing upwards at the end of your jump if you happen to be using a front-connected body harness.

The Elevator is a technique you’ll definitely have seen somewhere before. You simply step off the platform with your feet pointing down at the ground, and when you reach the end of the bungee you’ll be automatically flipped the right way round.

Top tip: only do the Elevator if you have access to a rubber (Kiwi/ Euro) cord to avoid hurting yourself and doing your ankles some serious harm!
